What is a Penny Auction

A penny auction is similar to a traditional auction that has evolved to produce a few innovative features, is a type of all-pay auction through which most participants should spend any non-refundable price to place each small incremental bid. The auction stops after a period of time, typically ten to twenty seconds, without new bids; the last participant to have placed a bid wins the item and pays the final bid price, which may be significantly lower than the retail price of the item. The actual cost of winning an auction is the combination of the number of bids placed in order to win a particular item plus the final auction price.
